We Love You Maci!!

We had to put Maci to sleep on Saturday. It was a TERRIBLE decision, but we know she is in a better place now and pain free. Maci suffered a spinal injury sometime Wednesday night. Cliff and Kerry took her to see Dr. West Thursday. Dr. West gave her some medicine hoping it would start to fix the problem, but Saturday morning I got the call that it was not helping and it was becoming more painful for her. We had the option for surgery in Knoxville, but were told that 12 months after the surgery she may be 50%, if that.
We decided to let her go. Kerry told Dr. West that she was the best dog ever, and she was. Dr. West told Kerry that if we really felt this way, that putting her to sleep was the best decision because it was not fair to her to put her through anymore pain.

She was truly the best dog anyone could ever want. We never imagined Maci playing in her own back yard and getting an injury like this, but Dr. West told us that her back is just like ours. It was a terrible day for us. We went to see Maci before they put her to sleep and said our goodbyes. She was so sweet and through all her pain she managed to stand up to get as close to us as she could. After she was put to sleep, we took her home bc that is truly where she wanted to be. You could see it in her eyes, that she just wanted to go home. Cliff and Kerry buried Maci in the backyard Saturday afternoon.
Rest in Peace Sweet Girl!!! We Love you!!
Anna Claire still runs through the house and yard hollering for you, Mace.
